Positions:

Chief Risk Officer

The Chief Risk Officer is responsible for running the risk management function of the PCB and this includes preparing the risk management strategy as well as overseeing the implementation of the strategy. The CRO will maintain an inventory of all the risks in the organization, assist the management in putting in mitigating controls to reduce the risks and allow for a successful execution of the organizations objectives, the management and Board’s duties.

Responsibilities:

• Liaising and coordinating with Heads of Departments, CEO and the Board of Governors as well as the Board Risk Management Committee

• Prepares regular reports for the management as well as the Board

• Preparing the risk management strategy with the assistance of the CEO

• Maintaining a comprehensive risk register and taking all the necessary actions in his/her control to mitigate the risks

• Prepares and maintains internal and external data gathering for risk analysis and reporting

• Design and implement methods for avoiding potential threats using risk metric software and personal knowledge of the industry.

• Prepare regular risk analysis reports for the PCB’s Management and Board complete with actionable plans for avoiding or preventing potential threats at all levels.

• Identification of potential threats to the financial stability of the PCB, including credit risk, investments, and portfolio inefficiencies.

• Develops insurance strategies and financing techniques to appropriately deal with any unanticipated losses.

• Conducts regular risk assessments.

• Manages and prepares all documentation related to risk assessments and reviews of standard operating procedures.

• Prepares and maintains a log of all the applicable laws and compliance regulations applicable to the PCB

• Builds a strong and capable team in the risk management function

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must have extensive knowledge and experience of working in risk management function in a company or a consulting firm

• Must possess knowledge of risk analysis, database management and risk metrics

• Must be a proven leader and manager, able to take charge and act assertively without guidance.

• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Knowledge of legal requirements and compliance regulations will be ideal but is not compulsory

• Must be both a problem solver

• An understanding or experience of auditing techniques, accounting standards and principles will be ideal but is not compulsory

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or risk management (Masters would be preferred).

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) / ACCA or equivalent with more than 5 years post qualification experience

• Must have at least 10 years’ experience in risk management, or insurance or liability research, or actuarial management with minimum 4 years at Senior Management level
