UMT is conducting an international search for the Pro-Rector.
The position is responsible for providing vision and leadership in planning, developing and implementing the University’s academics. It will ensure the growth and quality of all educational offerings and academic support functions. The Pro-Rector shall be responsible for ensuring academic quality in all schools, programs, and services within the academic affairs.
The position shall lead academics and will report to the Rector. All Deans and Directors of Schools and Institutes will report to the Pro-Rector.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Chief Academic Officer for all academic areas and functions of the University, including faculty, academic programs, academic staff and activities of the undergraduate and graduate programs of schools/institutes
- Provide leadership and coordination to ensure excellence in academic programs and to support and expedite the academic functioning of the University
- Promote excellence in teaching and scholarship and the increased use of technology in teaching and administration
- Provide leadership and direction to the academic division for development and recommend for policies and procedures for strategic planning and institutional effectiveness
- Provide leadership for academic program planning, educational policy, program assessment, faculty evaluation and faculty development
- Provide leadership for the accreditation process and uphold academic standards set by professional accrediting bodies
Eligibility Criteria:
- PhD (not more than 55 years of age)
- Teaching experience of 15 years or more
- Should be well aware of the dynamics of Higher Education, its emerging challenges and current advancements. Must be well acquainted with its structure, system and practices
- Demonstrated abilities in academic administration, including team building and the ability to work with diverse groups
- Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, innovation and scholarship
